| APRILIA | Aprilia est un constructeur italien de motos basé à Noale, près de Venise.
La firme naquit à la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale de l'ambition de Alberto Beggio de construire des bicyclettes.
En 1968, le fils d'Alberto, Ivano, rejoignit son père à la tête de l'entreprise. Trouvant la construction de vélo dépassé, il créa un prototype de 50 cm³. L'accueil du public fut chaleureux. Les premiers modèles à entrer en production à grande échelle furent nommés Colibri et Daniela.
La marque connut un grand succès, puisque la production passa de 150 à 12000 véhicules par an en 10 ans. Paradoxalement, le succès en Italie fut très mitigé.
Le début des années 80 fût difficile pour la marque. La flambée des prix du pétrole obligea les dirigeants à prendre une nouvelle direction. Jusque là producteur de motos loisirs (cross, enduro) ou de mobylettes, les premiers gros modèles routiers apparurent.
Les années 90 virent une évolution dans la production. Les scooters apparurent en force dans la gamme.
En 2000 et 2003, Aprilia racheta successivement les marques Laverda et Moto Guzzi.
